We are delighted that Pat Donelon has been recognised by Conack for his 'excellent commitment to site procedures, the timely submission of SPAs and his consistent focus on maintaining the highest safety standards' at the Valley Healthcare site in Galway.

Site Safety Awards for April 2026

Plant exclusion zone and roller training in Center Parcs in Longford.
This weeks training focused on plant and people interface, including blind spots on machinery and the hazards associated with working around moving plant.
The session served as a refresher for all personnel, reinforcing the importance of maintaining exclusion zones, effective communication, and safe working practices when operating or working in the vicinity of plant equipment.

Ride on roller training is designed to provide our workers with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to operate rollers safely and effectively in a variety of environments. The course covered key topics such as machine familiarization, health and safety regulations, operational techniques, and preventive maintenance.

Abrasive Wheel training across the Connaught sites.
An abrasive wheel is a wheel that grinds, cuts or smooths materials, rotating at high speeds to do this effectively. This includes grinders commonly used in metalwork and on construction sites and training includes fixed and removable abrasive wheels.
This training is an essential legal requirement for anyone involved in working with abrasive wheels, and focuses on the safe and effective use, including safe storage, identifying abrasive wheels, selecting the most appropriate equipment for specific situations, inspecting and identifying damaged wheels, mounting an abrasive wheel and understanding the hazards and risks associated with using them.

We were delighted that Mick O’Halloran has been awarded Worker of the Month by Pat McMahon, Site Foreman at Stewart’s Construction site in Renmore.
Mick is consistently proactive with safety on site and sets a great example for the team.

Connaught launches its own Safety Awards 2026.
Connaught launched their own 2026 Site Safety Awards this year and all of our site nominees will be entered into an end-of-year draw.
While we say it every time, we really are proud of all our winners for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and keeping everyone safe!
In-house training on the safe use of an excavator for lifting operations.
The Connaught team recently completed in-house training on the safe use of an excavator for lifting operations, combining both theory and practical on-site exercises.
The practical session involved lifting activities using Kelly blocks, lifting rings, and mobile plant.
The training reinforced the importance of proper planning and safe lifting practices when using excavators for lifting tasks.
Well done to the Connaught team for their continued commitment to safe operations and high site standards.
John Paul Construction Ltd - Contractor of the Month Award from January 2026
Connaught were awarded Contractor of the month on the Abbott Longford site for John Paul Construction Ltd.
The crew were awarded the prize for setting high safety standards on site.
Connaught have an excellent exclusion zone in place, separating plant and people, paperwork always up to a high standard and good PPE compliance.
The crew are very proactive when it comes to safety.
JJ Rhatigan and Company - Contractor of the Month Award from January 2026.
Connaught were awarded Contractor of the month on The Crown site for JJ Rhatigan and Company.
This was in recognition of their efforts being made on site.

Not one but five winners last month! Congratulations to…
Safety in action at MSD Dunboyne (1 to 4). It’s great to recognise a number of standout safety contributions on site:
1) George Amihaesei (Connaught) was presented with an iPad by Jacobs’ Evan Kelly (Construction Supervisor) as the first name out of the hat in a December draw for on-the-tools personnel who submitted a Safety Observation via the Tapin app. In the spirit of Christmas, two vouchers were also awarded to the next names drawn — Alex Bolog (Connaught) and Sergiu Purcel (Conack).
2) Michael Barrett (Connaught) received a safety voucher from Pat Conway for his all-round excellence — from safe plant operation and exemplary PPE standards to timely GA2 completion, respect for archaeological elements, and his consistent willingness to step up when needed.
