Project Description
Tearmann Anama Campus Development is a significant multi-million-euro project located in Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. The overall development will create a purpose-built education and retreat campus comprising residential accommodation, administration, education, conference, worship, recreation and supporting facilities.
Connaught Contractors Ltd. was appointed by Direction for Our Times as the main Design and Build Contractor for Phase One of the development. This phase includes the demolition of the existing three-storey abbey building, including its basement, and the construction of a new 1,258m² administration building and ESB substation.
The new administration building will provide a dining hall, café, offices, media studios, library, chapel, and a crèche. The building has been designed to form a central part of the wider campus and to support its future educational, residential and retreat activities.
Extensive infrastructure and site development works also form part of Phase One. These include substantial earthworks, underground services, foul and surface water drainage, access roads, parking areas, external paving, landscaping, site lighting and the installation of a 250 PE onsite wastewater treatment system with associated percolation areas.
As the main Design and Build Contractor, Connaught Contractors is responsible for coordinating and delivering all design and construction activities associated with Phase One. The project requires close collaboration with the client, design team, specialist subcontractors and suppliers to deliver a high-quality and sustainable development that will support the long-term vision for the Tearmann Anama Campus.
